JUXTAPOSITION (Michelle Tan 1112702287)

Juxtaposition is placing two variables side by side to compare and contrast their similarities or differences. It is used as popular approach in creative process. Juxtaposition is also usually used in creative process.

Week 6's Assignment: To research, observe, and compare CONFLICT between LEFT BRAIN and RIGHT BRAIN happens.

Example:

The brain is divided into two halves (hemispheres).
Usually, the left half of the brain controls the right side of the body.
The right half of the brain controls the left side of the body.

What you just experienced was the conflict between your left-brain / right-brain. Your right brain saw the color but your left brain insisted that you say the word.  This conflict made this activity cumbersome, slow and often frustrating.  You have been forced to be this way because it is how you learned how to read.  You have read this way for many years and it is ingrained in you.  Your left brain first wanted to say the word, but then it analyzed the color.  Meanwhile, your right brain knew all along the color, but was dominated the whole time by the left brain trying to do a simple right brain job.

Another Example:

In the picture above, it has clearly shown that they signboard illustrates that no seagull is allowed. Nevertheless, there is a seagull standing right on top of the signboard. We as normal human would immediately think and question ourselves "what does this image means?".

Hence, the conflicts between the left brain and right brain portray two different meaning which one is analysing the image and another is saying the common meaning.
