Life’s Brief Candle by William Shakespeare
To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,
To the last syllable of recorded time;
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
The poem above is one of my favourite poems up till today. I was taught in English literature components when I was in form 1. This poem is all about Macbeth, the king of Scotland where he received news that his wife just died. He was really sad, lonely and despairs and he felt that each day is passing by very slowly. Life is very dramatic, only a fool thinks it’s not.
Therefore, I always think that we must not follow the mentality of Macbeth and continue of life with useful and knowledgeable things. Always live a life to its fullest.
